Wahoo ELEMNT
Merge Wahoo rides into one
Ride saved in two parts? Export the FIT files from the Wahoo app and merge them in your browser.

Add both parts to merge.
Delete the originals on Strava before uploading – at least the first recording. Otherwise Strava rejects the file as a duplicate and the second ride stays duplicated.

Where do I get the files?
Garmin
Open the activity in Garmin Connect, use the gear menu, and download the original. That file is FIT.
Strava
Open the activity, then the menu, and export the original FIT. ActivityMerge joins FIT only.
Other devices
Export the recording as FIT when the device or app offers it. Drop both parts here.
Why a Wahoo ride ends up in two parts
A ride saved at the café stop by mistake, a restart after a crash or a dead battery, a second ride started instead of resuming – each produces a separate FIT file. If auto-share is on, both parts also land on Strava or other connected platforms.
How to export the FIT file
Wahoo app (current app):
- Open History and select the ride.
- Tap ⋯.
- Tap Share activity → Download .fit activity.
- Repeat for the second part.
ELEMNT app (older app): History → ride → share/upload icon → share the file, e.g. by email.
Via USB: For ELEMNT, BOLT and ROAM of the 1st and 2nd generation, Wahoo describes copying files from an exports folder. Windows shows the device directly; a Mac needs an MTP app such as OpenMTP.
Merge in 3 steps
- Add the files. Drop both FIT files above. They’re sorted by start time.
- Merge and check. After merging, the tool shows elapsed time and the café-stop pause. A fuller results preview (route) is coming soon.
- Download the merged FIT file.
What is preserved
GPS, speed, power, cadence, heart rate, altitude, temperature and the laps of both parts – checked with two real Wahoo files. The pause between the parts stays a pause, so elapsed and moving time stay honest. The file ID and device entry come from the first (earliest) file; extra sensor entries, gear-change events and zone settings are not carried over.
Upload and clean up
If you’ve authorized platforms in the Wahoo app with auto-share on (Wahoo: off by default), or connected a service that pulls from the Wahoo Cloud, the partial rides exist there too, not just in the app:
- Strava: delete both partial rides, then upload the merged file at strava.com/upload/select. Strava flags the merged upload as a duplicate only while the original of the first recording still exists. The second original is not flagged and would stay as an extra activity – so delete both partial activities before uploading.
- Other platforms (e.g. TrainingPeaks, Garmin Connect): check whether the parts arrived and delete them before importing.

Questions
Can the Wahoo app merge rides?
We found no merge function in Wahoo's help center. Export both FIT files and merge them here.
I use the older ELEMNT app. Where is the export?
In History, open the ride and tap the share/upload icon, then share the file, for example by email. Wahoo describes this in its support article.
Can I copy files straight from the ELEMNT?
For ELEMNT, BOLT (1st/2nd gen) and ROAM (1st/2nd gen), Wahoo documents USB access to an exports folder. On a Mac you need an MTP app such as OpenMTP. For newer models, check Wahoo's support.
My partial rides already synced to Strava. What now?
Delete both partial rides on Strava, then upload the merged file once. Strava flags the merged upload as a duplicate only while the original of the first recording still exists. The second original is not flagged and would stay as an extra activity – so delete both partial activities before uploading.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The FIT files are read and merged in your browser.
