Merge Zwift rides into one

Crash or disconnect split your ride? Find the FIT files and merge them in your browser – power and cadence included.

Sorted by start time automatically

Add both parts to merge.

Merged activity

Delete the originals on Strava before uploading – at least the first recording. Otherwise Strava rejects the file as a duplicate and the second ride stays duplicated.

Where do I get the files?

Garmin

Open the activity in Garmin Connect, use the gear menu, and download the original. That file is FIT.

Strava

Open the activity, then the menu, and export the original FIT. ActivityMerge joins FIT only.

Other devices

Export the recording as FIT when the device or app offers it. Drop both parts here.

Why a Zwift ride ends up in parts

The app crashes, the trainer or Bluetooth drops out, you restart Zwift – and the ride ends up as two activities. On Strava you see two rides with half the distance each, and your power data is split.

Where to find the FIT files

Per Zwift’s support article:

  • Mac: Documents/Zwift/Activities
  • Windows: C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Zwift\Activities. Rides recorded before February 2026 may still be in Documents\Zwift\Activities (or its OneDrive equivalent).
  • iOS / Android: on the title screen, tap the grey file icon and send the files by email.
  • Web: zwift.com → your feed → filter Just me → open the ride → cog → Download FIT file.

The web route works on any device and is the easiest when the app has just crashed.

Merge in 3 steps

  1. Add the files. Drop both FIT files above. They’re sorted by start time.
  2. Merge and check. After merging, the tool shows elapsed time and pause. A fuller results preview (incl. a chart for indoor rides) is coming soon.
  3. Download the merged FIT file.

What is preserved

Power, cadence, heart rate, speed and distance of both parts, plus their laps. The interruption stays a pause – your moving time isn’t inflated by the minutes Zwift was down. Removing the gap is not offered today.

Upload and clean up

If Zwift is connected to platforms such as Strava, both parts land there too. So:

  1. Delete both partial rides where you’ll upload – e.g. on Strava (⋯ → Delete). Strava flags the merged upload as a duplicate only while the original of the first recording still exists. The second original is not flagged and would stay as an extra activity – so delete both partial activities before uploading.
  2. Upload the merged file there, e.g. at strava.com/upload/select.
  3. Check distance, time and the power chart.

We haven’t verified whether Zwift’s own activity list can be changed, so this page doesn’t cover it.

Questions

Where does Zwift save FIT files?

On Mac in Documents/Zwift/Activities, on Windows in AppData\Local\Zwift\Activities (older rides in Documents\Zwift\Activities). On mobile, use the file icon on the title screen.

Are power and cadence kept?

Yes. The record fields of both parts – power, cadence, heart rate, speed – are carried over. We verified this with outdoor files; a Zwift file pair has not been tested yet.

What about the time Zwift was down?

It stays a pause, so moving time isn't inflated. Removing the gap is not offered today.

Where do I upload the merged ride?

Wherever you keep your training, e.g. Strava or Garmin Connect. Delete the partial rides there first – on Strava the second partial ride would otherwise stay as an extra activity.

Is anything uploaded to ActivityMerge?

No. The files are read and merged in your browser.
